Assessments
The assessment process may involve a basic assessment (1h30m) or a more detailed therapeutic/psychological/neuropsychological assessment depending on the needs of the child, family, service.
Information is gathered during the referral process, including psychometrics and neuropsychological assessment elements.
Specialist assessments may include:
- Expert witness assessments (of children only) for family court
- Sibling dynamics assessments, including together and apart assessments
- Mental health assessments (as part of broader assessment)
- Autism assessments (screen or full diagnostic following NICE guidelines)
- ADHD screening
- FASD screening
- Neuropsychological assessments using gold standard, up to date standardised neuropsychological assessments (including executive functioning, affect recognition, theory of mind, memory etc)
- Trauma assessment (complex and single event)
- Attachment assessment (Child Attachment Interview or Story Stem Assessment Profile, according to NICE guidelines)
- Meaning of the child to the parent (MOTC) assessment
- Family dynamics assessment
- MIM Theraplay assessment
- Cognitive assessments (WAIS-IV, WISC-V etc)
- Educational attainment (WIAT-III, school observations etc)
Specialist assessments are usually completed over several sessions (4 to 6) which may be on the same day or over a period of time. Complex assessment take 4 to 8 months for analysis, interpretation and report to be written.

We offer a very comprehensive and integrated therapy programme that is often followed on directly from the assessments, depending on availability.

Therapy with child and carers/parents
For children and families who have experienced trauma or attachment difficulties and are living with adoptive or birth parents, foster carers or special guardians. Our Child Therapy Service consists of the following elements:
- Dyadic developmental informed psychotherapy (DDP)
- Attachment informed EMDR
- Therapeutic Life Story Work
- Theraplay
- Therapeutic parenting
- Parent Cognitive Analytic Therapy
- Child and Adolescent Cognitive Analytic Therapy

Therapy, consultation or advice in regards to a range of difficulties for children and adults
- Trauma
- Self harm
- Relationships
- Difficulties relating to Autism
- Eating problems
- Learning difficulties
- Difficulties related to gifted children
- Specialist Nurturing Systems program – we offer bespoke training to residential homes, schools and other education providers in respect of therapeutically supporting children with adverse experiences that are impacting on their learning.
- We offer specialist supervision and consultation to services and individuals.

Some difficulties we are NOT able to help with are as follows:
- Court assessments for adults/parents/carers
- Issues relating to child contact disputes
- Diagnosing of Dyslexia or ADHD
- Parental Alienation
- Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA)
- Therapeutic work with adults that is not relational/trauma (complex or single event) related
- Crisis interventions
